Karla J. Lesslie, 71, of Carbondale, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born January 30, 1941 in Montgomery Co., KS, the daughter of Carl C. and Dorothy L. Troutman Clark. Karla graduated from Independence High School in 1959. She had resided in Topeka since 1988. Karla owned and operated Karla's Cakes and Balloons and she worked at Lewis Furniture, Dillard's, and JCPenney Fine Jewelry. She was also a Mary Kay representative. She was a member of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene.
Karla married Larry M. Lesslie on June 5, 1959 in Bolton, KS. Surviving is her loving husband and children, Timothy A. (Rachel) Lesslie, Pamela J. (Tom) Luthi, Curtis D. (Julie) Lesslie, Tammy E. (Randy) Schneider, twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her siblings, Lowell Clark, Warren Clark, Delaney Clark and many nieces and nephews. Karla was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Karla will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
