Katherine Louise Riley

Katherine Louise "Kathy" Riley, 88, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born July 1, 1933 in Groesbeck, Texas, the daughter of Allie D. and Ella Mae (York) Briggs.
Kathy graduated from Texas City High School in Texas City, Texas. She was employed by the American National Insurance Company in Galveston and Topeka for several years. She then went to work for Stormont Vail Hospital in 1984 before retiring in 1989.
Kathy enjoyed wheat weaving, sewing and square dancing. She attended the First Southern Baptist Church.
Kathy met Frank Riley on a blind date and they were married on January 12, 1951 in the First Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas. He survives. Other survivors include children, Steven Riley of Topeka, Janet Riley of Topeka, four grandchildren, Heather (John) Calvert, Kelly Riley, Sean Riley, Shannon Riley, four great-grandchildren, Abby, John, Zach and Lucas and her brother, James Briggs.
Kathy was preceded in death by one son, Frank Riley, Jr. in 2013.
A private Celebration of Kathy's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
