Kathleen Denise Cheatham

Kathleen Denise Cheatham, 60, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

She was born March 7, 1964, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Ted and Elna (Nelson) Ensley. She was a graduate of Shawnee Heights High School in 1982 and later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Washburn University.

Kathy was employed by the VA for 4 years, prior to that she worked for The Breakthrough House for 8 years.

Mrs. Cheatham was a member of the First Lutheran Church, of Topeka.

Kathy married Heath Cheatham on August 28, 1993. He survives.

Other survivors include children, Dahnika (Hazen) Short, Alexis Cheatham and her fiancé Derek Anderson and Blake Cheatham; grandchildren, Naomi, Tilly, Frances, Theodore and Everett; and siblings, Doug (Sue) Ensley and Connie (Scott) Hermreck.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Ron Cheatham.

Kathy loved spending time with her family and friends, and loved being “Nana”. She was an avid K-State, Chiefs, and Royals fan. She enjoyed going to the lake, listening and dancing to country music, golfing, coaching soccer, and running.

A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday July 6, 2024 at Dove Cremations & Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, where the family will receive friends the hour prior. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, in Topeka. Kathy's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time. Click here to view the service.
