Kathleen "Kathie" Cox, 68, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013. She was born June 10, 1944 in Osage City, KS the daughter of Orville and Velma "Pat" Fleming.
Kathie was raised in Topeka, and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1962. She married Richard Cox on June 11, 1964 in California. While living in California, Kathie was employed by Hughes Aircraft. After returning to Topeka, she worked for Anesthesia Associates of Topeka and later, C.I.S. of Topeka. Her love of animals and especially cats made her a supporter of several animal rescue organizations. Kathie was also a strong supporter of the Topeka Rescue Mission, and her care for others led her to be an organ donor. She loved music and singing, and had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed dancing and acting, reading, and crafts; particularly jewelry making.
Kathie is survived by her spouse, Richard; daughter Heather Cox; brother, Scott Fleming; sister, Lorie Huyett (Jake); mother, Pat Fleming; nephew, Jeremiah Huyett (Jessica); three great-Nephews, Jacob, Jace, and Jamison Huyett; and her best and most endearing lifelong friend, Connie Kimble. She is preceded in death by her father, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Per her wishes, Kathie was cremated and a celebration of her life will be June 22, 2013 from 1-3PM at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission.
