Kathleen Joanne Day, 71, of Topeka, KS passed away from complications due to MS, on Saturday, October 13, 2012. She was born October 16, 1940 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Francis L. and Eileen (Tice) Brehm.
In 1945, the family returned home to Topeka. Kathleen attended Topeka schools and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1958. She married Douglas R. Day in March of 1963. They later divorced. Kathleen graduated from nursing school as a LPN and worked at Stormont-Vail Medical Center in pediatrics. During her time at Stormont, she obtained the level of LPN III. She retired in April of 1994 due to MS. Kathleen enjoyed reading, cross stitching, making Christmas stockings for all of her children, grandchildren as well as many others. She was a member of the Topeka Bible Church for 50 years. She had been a resident of Plaza West Health Care since August of 2006.
Her personal relationship with Jesus Christ was central in her life, and her family is comforted in knowing she is no longer struggling with her earthly body. Her strong faith had her actively involved in Bible study classes while at Plaza West, and she could always be heard listening to Christian radio.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Tim Day (Angel), of Rossville, Melissa Day and Christopher Day, of Topeka; 9 grandchildren; and one brother, Philip Brehm, of Harrisburg, PA. She is preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Michael Day.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19th at the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel. 4700 SW 17th Topeka, KS 66604. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
