Kathren Susan Messenger, 65, of Topeka, KS, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021. She was born April 17, 1956 in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of Jack O. and Velma S. (Lee) Messenger.
Kathren graduated from Walnut Community School in Walnut, Iowa. She worked as a caregiver in home health care. She grew up in the Altamont Baptist Church in rural Harlan, Iowa. Most recently she was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Topeka.
Survivors include her father, Jack Messenger of Harlan, IA; her siblings, Dennis (Jeri) Messenger of West Des Moines, IA, and Judy (John) Pixley of Honey Creek, Iowa; two nephews, Jared (Erin) Pixley and Joel Pixley, and one niece Holly (Eric Woodard) Messenger; one great-nephew, Kiran; and her best friend, Diana Holland.
She was preceded in death by her mother and nephew, Aaron Messenger.
Cremation has taken place and no memorial services in Iowa are planned. Private inurnment will take place in Iowa at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to New Life Baptist Church, 3601 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66604 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
