Kathryn Marie Snyder, 74, Topeka, formerly of rural Overbrook, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2014, the daughter of A.L. and Ruth Marie (Conley) Kingery. She was born October 27, 1939 and raised near rural Centropolis. A 1957 graduate of Appanoose High School, she was a cheerleader and Salutatorian of her graduating class.
She married Ivan Duane Snyder on November 2, 1957 in Ottawa. He died in 2002. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Elaine (Richard) Moses. Kathryn enjoyed gardening and being a devoted and hardworking farm wife and horsewoman alongside her husband.
She left behind her beloved baby sister, Alice Mae (Max) Bond, rural Eudora; her 2 daughters, Debra Kay (Bruce) Smith, Overbrook, Connie Marie (Orville) Sparks, Topeka; 2 grandchildren, Brandon John Snyder Smith, Denver, CO, and Megan Marie (Zac) Muir, Moore, OK, whom she cherished. Also surviving are her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Don Gottschamer, rural Pomona; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Surviving cousins include the '3 boys' she loved a lifetime, Charles (Linda) Conley, Kenneth (Linda) Conley, all of Pleasanton, KS, and Stephen (Malinda) Conley, Blue Mound, and their families.
The family wishes to thank Bonnie Stevens, rural Overbrook, for the friendship and loving devoted hours she spent helping mom.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Appanoose Cemetery, southeast of Overbrook. Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
