Katrin Lynne Marshall (Van Stone), 68, of Topeka, passed away early Monday morning October 24, 2024. She was a resident at Rossville Health Care and Rehabilitation where she has been for the last few years with a Degenerative Cognitive condition inherited from her mother and grandmother identified with a group of Southern European Women who had immigrated to Central America in the 1800’s. 

She was born January 18, 1956, in Miami, Florida, the daughter of Walter and Marie Marshall. The family was living in Colombia where her father was with Sears Corporation developing stores in Central America and South America. Later the family moved back to the states to Bethesda Maryland where Lynne graduated from Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.

Lynne enrolled at the University of Maryland in 1974. In 1978 she traveled to France and the Sorbonne to continue her French and Italian Language Studies. Returning to the States, Lynne traveled to friends in Florida & then worked with her father’s Business Consulting Firm in Washington DC. Later in the early 90’s moving to Denver, Colorado joining her Brother Steven Marshall in his Contract Furniture Representative Group for several Manufactures including Teknion & Lazy Boy. They covered Dealers in Colorado, Nevada & Wyoming. Their Parents Walter & Marie moved to Highlands Ranch in the mid 90’s followed by her sister Kim who also moved to Denver. Katrin Lynne had traveled to NeoCon, the Spring Business Furniture Yearly Event, at the Chicago Merchandise Mart in 1997. Burney Van Stone meet Lynne at a Luncheon. Their mutual friend Betty Harris the Teknion Representative introduced them. They were married 6 months later in Denver and Lynne moved to Topeka, Ks. with Burney. Lynne joined Burney in his work with Burney Van Stone Design Consultants, she also participated in Leadership Topeka and Rotary and presenting classes for several years in 501 Junior High Schools. 

Katrin Lynne Marshall (Van Stone) is survived her husband of 26 years Burney L. Van Stone of Topeka, Kansas, Daughter Lorien (D.J) Van Stone Duran and their Daughter Kadence of Olathe, Kansas, Step Daughter Natalie Bowman of Topeka Kansas, Sister in-law Darlene & Mike Woods and their family of Cherry Valley Arkansas. Sister Kim Marshall in Los Angeles, Aunt Ilona Marshall in Greenbras, California. 

She was preceded in death by Parents Walter and Marie Marshall and Brother Steven H. Marshall. 

Katrin enjoyed bilingual speaking in Spanish, French and Italian and belonged to First Baptist Church in Topeka and the Choir. 

A service will be 10 AM Monday October 28th at Dove South West Funeral Home 3700 SW Wanamaker Dr. Topeka, Kansas. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery followed by a reception at First Baptist Church 3033 SW MacVicar Avenue Topeka KS.

 Memorial Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Topeka 3833 SW MacVicar, Topeka KS 66611 noting “Children 8 Youth Fund”
