Kay Riedel

Kay Lyn Williams Riedel, 60, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Midland Hospice House, surrounded by family and friends.

Kay was born February 26, 1947 in Iola, the daughter of Joseph Edwin and Leona Marie (Cooper) Williams.

She attended Highland Park Schools and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1965.

She married Robert Francis Riedel on September 5, 1970 in St. Peter. He survives. Other survivors include son; Jason Michael Riedel and wife, Shannon, Topeka; daughters, Courtney Lyn Riedel, Topeka, Ashley Wiegert and husband, Andrew, Gardner; granddaughters, Brittany and Kelsey Riedel; grandson Jayden Riedel; sister, Jo Anne Witt, College Station, TX; and brother, Jerry Williams, Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She will be remembered for her cooking abilities and the courage shown during her battle with Ovarian Cancer the past 6 years.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 6th & Gage. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Catholic Church on Friday, August 10, 2007 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
