Keith Gerald Ramsey

Keith Gerald Ramsey, 92, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Keith was born March 26, 1927 to Victor Daniel Marion Ramsey and Golda Marea (Hall) Ramsey on a farm about one mile north of Oneida, Kansas.

His family moved to a farm south of Seneca where he attended grade school at Blue Star Country school.
His family moved to Soldier when he was eleven. There he attended Anderson Country school and later Soldier High School where he graduated with the class of 1945.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army after high school, serving during World War II. He went to Germany as part of the occupation force and later discharged from the Armed Services in 1947. He was proud to have served his country.

He attended Kansas State University. He worked a couple of years in Topeka at Merchants National Bank before embarking on a 36-year career at Santa Fe Railway as a Damaged Freight Claim Investigator, he retired in 1987. He took on a second career selling real estate for Land Kansas and Bill Lewis until 2002. He was pleased to receive multiple "Million Dollar" awards for selling real estate.

Keith married Darlene Berndt on August 31, 1951 at Gage Park Baptist Church. They were the first couple married in the church. His wife of 68 years survives.

Other survivors include son, Leland and Kim Ramsey of Lubbock, Tx; daughter, Linda (Lundgren) Kaufman and Ron Kaufman, Topeka; daughter, Lanita (Goul) and Dave Nations, Topeka.

Keith had 8 grandchildren Sean (Therese) Lundgren, Topeka; Garrett (Bridget) Kaufman, Topeka; Jessica (Thomas) Reynolds, Lubbock Tx; Jeremy (Bethany) Ramsey, Sour Lake, Tx; Ryan (Diana) Goul, Topeka; Craig Nations, Topeka; Curtis Nations, Wichita.

Keith had 13 great-grandchildren Mackensie Lundgren, Jaden Lundgren, Morgan Lundgren, Keegan Lundgren, Shelbie Kaufman, Riley Kaufman, Maya Kaufman, Emma Kaufman, Addison Reynolds, Avett Reynolds, Lily Ramsey, Jase Ramsey and Lucas Goul.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Ramsey; and granddaughter, Katarina Kaufman.

Keith enjoyed spending time with family. He was very close to his brother and their cousins. Their monthly family dinners were fondly remembered. He had many interests. He loved tractors, collected gas engines, built bicycles, went hunting and liked to tinker around in the garage.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka.

Keith will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday, at the Mount Hope Funeral Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
