Kenneth E. Gibson, 76, Topeka, entered into rest on Thurs., Dec. 11, 2008 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Kenneth was born in Circleville, KS on May 9, 1932, the son of Orville and Madge (Runyan) Gibson.
Mr. Gibson served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from March 7, 1952~March 15, 1956.
He married Charlotte Briggs in Topeka, on June 7, 1953, having celebrated their 55 anniversary this year.
Kenny worked for the U.S. Post Office from 1956~1968; he was later self employed as a carpenter.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte of the home; three sons, Terry (Tina), Jerry (Robin) of Topeka, Kenneth (Vaughn) of Holton, KS; daughter, Karen (Bill) Wentz of Roswell, GA; 14 grandchildren: Travis and Trevor Gibson, Joetta (Dave) Davis, Ashley Gibson, Justin Gibson, Jennifer (CJ) Blankenship, Adam (Kate) Wentz, Darcy, and Erica Wentz, Steve (Alyssa) Gibson, Angie, Joshua (Dani), Kenny and Keeli Gibson; five great-grandchildren: Taylor Gibson, Michaela and Brayden Blankenship, Addisen Wentz and Kiley Gibson; three siblings: Arta Gibson, Ted Gibson and Doris Greene.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Keith Gibson, Duane Gibson and daughter-in-law, Belinda Gibson.
Mr. Gibson will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, where a visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tues., Dec. 16 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
