Kenneth Heitkotter

Kenneth Stephan Heitkotter, 54, Topeka, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, April 21, 2010, surrounded by his loving wife Pam (Bosch), devoted dogs, Babe and Boo, family and many good friends. The day before he passed away, his family and friends celebrated his 54th birthday with dinner and cake. Ken knew how much he was loved.

He was born April 20, 1956 in Palo Alto, California, the son of Donald and Peggy (Cybert) Heitkotter. He was raised in the bay area of California and graduated from Linnbrook High School in San Jose. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army serving at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Belvoir, VA.
After the Army, Ken worked as a carpenter. He came from a family of artists. He loved to etch mirrors, airbrush and paint. He loved to give his art away to family, friends and even strangers. He worked as an artist and house painter in Topeka. He loved to travel. His travels led him to Topeka where he met and married Pam on July 1, 1991. They were "Ken & Pam" –true soul mates.

He is survived by his wife, Pam, their beloved dogs, Boo and Babe, his adored nephew, Garrett Jolly, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Beth and LeRoy Bosch, sister-in-law, Debbie Bosch, sister-in-law and her husband, Glenda and Bill Jolly, all of Topeka. He is also survived by his father, Don Heitkotter of California and brother, Tim Heikotter of Hawaii.

He was preceded by his beloved dog, Puppy Mutt; son, Jamie Heitkotter; mother, Peggy Stickley; sister, Cindy Heitkotter; Pam's grandparents, Walter and Lorraine Bosch, and his maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Cybert.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Colmery O'Neil Veterans Medical Center Chapel, 2200 SW Gage, Topeka. Following the memorial service, the family encourages you to join them at Hayden High School cafeteria, 401 Gage, for dinner and to celebrate Ken's life.

Even though Ken is now with Christ, he could not have gotten there without help. Pam and family would like to thank all of our friends, VA hospital staff, Midland hospice staff, and Dove Cremation staff for caring friendship, prayer, and assistance through this difficult time. He will be missed.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
