Kenneth Robert Mabrey

Kenneth Robert Mabrey, 82, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021.

He was born February 11, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Robert Nelson and Mary Catherine (Madden) Mabrey. He graduated from Pacific High School in San Bernardino, California.

Kenneth was a second generation electrician for the Santa Fe Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 2001.

Kenneth married Elaine Marie Benway on February 7, 1959 in San Bernardino, California. She passed away on May 18, 2004. He then married Patricia D. Myers on July 21, 2005 in Topeka. She survives, along with his children Ronnie Mabrey (Jessie) of Silver Lake, KS, Sherri Mabrey (John O'Bier) of Topeka, Terri Butler (Jeff) of Hesperia, CA, and Darryl Mabrey (Rose) of Centralia, KS, Julie Stanley of Topeka, Jill Straub (Greg Young) of Topeka, Jennifer Alexander (Todd) of McPherson, KS, Melissa Wegner (Allan) of Onaga, KS, and Billie McMahon (Michael) of Topeka; multiple loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brother Richard Dennis Mabrey. He was preceded in death by his son Robert in 1959 and his sister Barbara Ann Glidden in 1987.

Kenneth enjoyed camping, frequent trips to the casino and was an avid sports fan of the Kansas State Wildcats and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kenneth was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 30th at 10:00 am at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. The urn will be taken for interment in Redlands, California at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5375 SW 7th Street, Topeka, KS 66606 or the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312.
