Kenneth Nathan "Kenny" Hollingshead, 82, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015.
He was born August 8, 1932 in Long Island, Kansas, the son of Kenneth Nathaniel "Skin" and Elizabeth Naomi "Tin" (Eaton) Hollingshead. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Kenny was employed by R.D. Anderson Construction, Ferrell Construction, McPherson Construction and retired from BRB Construction.
He was a life-time member of V.F.W. in Benson, AZ.
Kenny married Amanda Ruth Clemens on May 28, 1976 in Holton, KS. She survives. Other survivors include nine children, Kathy (David) Summers, Roger (Charisse) Criqui, Carolyn (Gary) Criqui-Miller, Philip (Joan) Criqui, L.A. (Martin) Haines, Teena (Eugene) Chapman, Thomas (Janee) Criqui, Brenda (Michael) Kennell and John (Kim) Criqui; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight siblings, Ann Ostrander, Aryus Reynolds, Pam Olsen, Sharon Remmert, Ivan, Joe and Don Hollingshead and Dave "Dum-Dum" Gourley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three children, Paul and Dan Hollingshead and James "Alan" Criqui; a sister, Margaret Hollingshead, and brother, Paul Dee Hollingshead.
He was a prankster and a clown who made people laugh and smile. He enjoyed watching John Wayne Movies, reading Louis L'Amour Books playing cards, especially cribbage.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2015, at the Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020, SW 6th Ave., Topeka. Private inurment will be at the Spring Hill Cemetery, Whiting, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312.
