Kent Edward Wallace

Kent Edward Wallace, 53, of Topeka died on July 31, 2014 at Lexington Park Assisted Living. He had ALS. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on May 20, 1961, the son of Harry Edward Wallace, Jr. and Mary Jeannine (Williamson) Wallace.

He graduated from Topeka West High School in the class of 1979 and from Kansas State University in 1983 with a major in Radio and TV.

Kent worked at TV stations in Oberlin and Junction City, Kansas and Cheyenne, Wyoming. He then became a video production specialist for Wyoming Game and Fish and produced wildlife documentaries which were aired on television. He won five Association for Conservation Information International Awards for Audio/Visual News. He moved to Denver, Colorado where he was a manager for video production for Starz/Encore Media Group.

Kent returned to Topeka in 2011 and joined the news staff at KSNT. Due to his illness he resigned in August, 2013.

He loved music and played in a rock band while in college. He lived by the credo "Music is the Best" and attended numerous concerts. He loved snowboarding and back packing in the Rocky Mountains. He summited 35 of the 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado.

Kent was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother and his brothers, Stuart (Melanie) Wallace of Overbrook and Darin (Billie) Wallace of Topeka; nephews, Taylor and Riley Wallace; and nieces, Alexandra and Madison Wallace.

His family is grateful for the support he received from his Alpha Tau Omega fraternity brothers and close friends as well as the kindness and care of the staff at Lexington Park Assisted Living.

A celebration of Kent's life will be held August 31st 1-5pm at Heritage Hall on the KS Expocentre grounds. Attendees are requested to wear purple.
