Kent R. Engler, 69, of Topeka, went to be in the Arms of our Heavenly Father and to again be with his awesome parents on Sunday, May 26, 2013.
He was born November 10, 1943 in Topeka to Roy W. and Frances Hodge Engler. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard. Kent worked in various positions including a mechanic, security, truck driver, transportation and as a volunteer fireman. Kent married Patricia Parnell-Bell. They later divorced.
Left to mourn his passing include his daughter, Annette Engler-Shaffer and her husband, Barry and his granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Shaffer all of Conway, AR, his brother, Cady Engler and his wife, Pam of Bryan, TX and their children, Sarah and Jonathan and their families. Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Frances in 2000.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross, Kansas Capital Area Chapter, 1221 SW 17th St., Topeka, KS 66604 to assist tornado victims or to Habitat for Humanity, 2907 SW Topeka Blvd., Topeka, Kansas 66611.
