L. Maxine Forbes

L. Maxine Forbes, 94, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at a Topeka care facility. She was born February 19, 1923 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Rueben M. and Ollie (Grace) Henman.
Maxine graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1940. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Swift & Co. and J.C. Penney in St. Joseph. She had resided in Topeka since 1957. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Maxine married Jack Forbes on July 19, 1940 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Forbes on July 26, 2014 and her brother, Chester Henman during WWII and her nephew, Roger M. Henman.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Carol Bourg of St. Joseph, Missouri.
Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will take place in Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.
