Lace Clifford Beutler, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born July 14, 1926 in California, MO, the son of Lace C. and Rose M. Siebert Beutler. His childhood was spent on family dairy farms in Hopkins, MO and New Market, IA, where he graduated from high school. Clifford served with the U.S. Army Rainbow Division, ETO from 1944-1946. He later served in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was stationed at Forbes Air Base in Topeka before being discharged in 1952. He worked at various occupations after leaving the Air Force. Clifford was part owner of Crane & Co. Business Machines store for 17 years. He later worked for Logan Business Machines. He was a member of Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion and First Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Evening Sertoma Club.
Clifford married Elizabeth Schoonover on January 13, 1956 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include their daughter, Rebecca (Hank) Miller and their son, William (Mollie) Beutler, four grandchildren, Daniel, James, Abigail and Haley. Also surviving are two sisters, Beverly Morris of Hughson, California and Marilyn (Dean) Young of Brownsville, TX.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church in the parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar St., Topeka, KS 66611 or to the Beutler Grandchildren Educational Fund c/o Central National Bank, 800 SE Quincy Ave., Topeka, KS 66612.
