Lafe Frank Garst, Jr., 74, Topeka, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at his home. He was born on April 22, 1938 in Bellvue, Nebraska to Lafe, Sr. and Alice (Kindle) Garst, the second of 13 children.
He was a mechanic for Fuller Garage in Beloit, Kansas before moving to Topeka in 1971 where he joined Lewis Auto Salvage until his retirement.
On May 4, 1959 he married Vicky Wrench in Beloit, Kansas, she survives. Other survivors include their children, Martizha (Phillip) Potter, Lafe (Barbara) Garst, Lester (Julie) Garst and Lori Garst (Daniel Forbes) all of Topeka; 11 grandchildren, Brandy Noe, Amber Rose, Mandi Garst, Brent Garst, Toby Robinson, Krystal Horton, Shelby Garst, CarolAnn Bautista, Ryan Garst, Stephanie Mixon and Jacob Forbes; 18 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by three children, Charles, Larry and Skip and two brothers, Don and Fred.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 21 at the Penwell-Gabel - Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice.
