Lanora G. Walburn, 76, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at a Topeka hospital. She was born March 25, 1938 in Scranton, KS, the daughter of DeLoss and Harriet Bartee Elledge.
Lanora resided in Topeka since 1954. She was employed by Seymour Foods and Jostens Yearbook Company before retiring after 25 years of service.
Lanora married James H. Walburn on October 20, 1956 in Lyndon, KS. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1971. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Buskirk. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (John) Collins of Lawrence, KS, Lori (Harry) Walburn Hopkinson of Topeka, one step-daughter, Helen (Gary) Sabatte of Oakland, CA, one step-son, Steven (Marlene) Walburn of Colony, KS, nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Shirley Bingham of Tecumseh, KS.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Scranton, KS. Lanora will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the funeral home.
