Larry E. Peters

Larry E. Peters, 71, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born on November 22, 1937 in Council Grove, KS, the son of Earl and Hazel Blythe Peters. He was an Air Force veteran. Larry had resided in Topeka since the 1960's. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company / AT&T for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He later was employed by Washburn University until 2005. Larry married Betty L. Hirt on March 22, 1959 in Parkerville, KS. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Tamera (Steve) Ortega of Topeka, Tod (Fay) Peters of Topeka, four grandchildren, Shannon and Shawn Ortega and Nolan and Austin Peters and one sister, Earlenne Kamm of Dyer, AR. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside inurnment services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at White City Cemetery, White City, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the Larry E.
