Larry Joe Scarbrough, 71, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Larry was born July 12, 1941, in Troy, KS, son of Louis and Juanita (Emory) Scarbrough. Larry graduated from Seaman High School in 1960, and attended Washburn University. He served in the 69th Brigade of the Kansas National Guard, and was deployed to Ft. Carson, Colorado in 1968.
He worked for Zales Jewelry, GMC, and retired from Goodyear Rubber Workers Credit Union after 30 years of service. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and softball. He loved his 1940 Ford Custom Sedan Street Rod, which he drove to cruise nights and car shows.
Larry married Sharon Weber on June 27, 1964, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Topeka.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, Topeka; children, Michele (Larry) Prockish, Berryton; and Brian Scott Scarbrough, Topeka; four grandchildren, Khaili and Mason Scarbrough, and Brayden and Brylee Prockish; and sister, Janica (Victor) Miller, Topeka.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at Highland Park United Methodist Church, Topeka. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
