Larry Roger Larsen

Larry Roger Larsen, age 63, of Topeka Kansas, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017
after an extended illness. He was born April 8, 1954 in Logan, Utah, to Roger and Donna Larsen. When Larry was ten, his mother and step-father, Max Brimhall, accepted teaching positions on the Navajo Reservation. His family moved to New Mexico, where he spent the rest of his childhood.

Larry excelled in football, basketball and track at Shiprock High School, where he was class president and graduated in 1972. He attended college at Utah State before enlisting is the US Army. He was stationed in Baumholder, Germany, and served as a military policeman. While in Baumholder, he met the love of his life, Lynda, during a routine traffic stop, and they were married November 8th, 1974.

Larry and Lynda returned to the United States in January, 1976, and were stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. They welcomed daughter Jennifer in 1977. Larry discharged from the army in January 1978. Their daughter Heather was born in 1980. In 1981, the family moved to Great Bend, Kansas, where Larry worked as a well logger in the oilfield.

In 1987, Larry moved the family to Topeka Kansas where he was employed at Essex Wire Group until the factory closed. He later worked for the State of Kansas in different investigative capacities.

Larry cherished spending time with his loving family. He established a tradition of Tuesday Night Dinners, where he could enjoy spending quality time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He was especially proud of his grandkids accomplishments in school, and bragged to anyone who would listen about their excellence in softball, wrestling, and soccer.

Larry is survived by Lynda, his wife of 43 years, daughters: Jennifer Rager (Valentine Osayande), and Heather (Kenny) Young, both of Topeka, KS; five grandchildren: Baileigh and Justin Rager, Kenslee, Kenadee, and Kendrick Young; four sisters: Karen (Ken) Wlodarczyk, Grand Prairie, TX, Laura (John) Andrade, Cottonwood Heights, UT, Kathy (Gary) Lawson, Edgewood, MD, Shannon (Royd) McCargish, Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Blake (Ronda) Brimhall, Honolulu HI; his step-father, Max Brimhall, Farmington, NM; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Roger Larsen, mother Donna Brimhall, neice Parisa Rad, nephews Brandon Carver, and Kael Andrade, and several aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be held Friday, December 29th at 11:00 a.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel in Topeka, KS.
