Larry was united in marriage to Cheryl Barnett on October 21, 1960. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2020.
Larry started Mather Flare Rental, Inc. in 1960 with his father Louis when they bought a traffic control services company. The company grew over the years to include Johnny on the Job portable restrooms and Topeka Trailer Storage. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and friends over the years with his favorite vacation destinations being Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Florida in the winter months. As a Chiefs season ticket holder for nearly 50 years, Larry and his wife Cheryl rarely missed a football game. They also loved rooting for the Kansas City Royals and Kansas State Wildcats.
While Larry lived a full and active life, his family was what was most important to him. He is survived by his daughters Toni Albright and Carrie (William) Kelly all of Topeka; grandchildren Renee (Nathan) Earwood, Travis (Samantha) Rogers, Taylor (Blake) Winkenwader, Kyle Kelly and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl; his parents; his brother, Gary Mather; and granddaughter, Tara Kelly.
