Latasha Gunby, 33, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2009 at Topeka Community Health Care Center. She was born along with her twin to Linda (Gunby) Pickens and Freddie Ishman, Sr. on July 22, 1976 in Topeka, KS. She attended USD 501 schools and graduated from Highland Park in 1995. She attended Bryan College for Medical Assistant in 2007. She worked in food service from the age of 16 until her health started failing her earlier this year. Born to her were Ajanéa Gunby and Azarion Perkins. She was a member of Indiana Avenue Church of Christ and sang in the choir. She loved her church family and loved to sing all the time. She loved to do the fill-in books. She enjoyed doing activities and spending time with her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and her "favorite twin" Latrisha.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her parents, Linda Pickens of Topeka, KS and Freddie Ishman, Sr. of Little Rock, AR. Her two children, Ajanéa Gunby and Azarion Perkins both of Topeka, KS; two brother, Charles Gunby of Overland Park, KS and Freddie Ishman, Jr. of Topeka, KS; four sisters, Angela Morris, Latrisha Gunby, Crystal Gunby, and Melody Gunby all of Topeka, KS; sixteen nieces and nephews; six great nieces and nephews; a great Aunt Lilly and a special Aunt Joyce; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Especially Kim Cusinberry and David Perkins.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28 at Indiana Avenue Church of Christ, 3510 Indiana Ave, Topeka. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Latasha Gunby's Children's Education Fund.
