Laura M. Taylor

Laura M. Taylor, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at a Topeka hospital. She was born November 11, 1931 in Arrington, KS, the daughter of Otis and Mae Baumgart Overmiller.

Laura graduated from Malin High School, Malin, OR. She had resided in Topeka since 1974. She was a beautician in Effingham, KS and later employed by the State of Kansas before retiring in 1994.

Laura married Billy Taylor in 1950. They later divorced. Survivors include two children, Larry (Sharlene) Taylor of Berryton, Cindy (Joe) Guatney of Topeka, four grandchildren, Shawn Taylor, Shannon Taylor, Michelle Guatney and Patrick Guatney, three great-grandchildren, Ryley, Kylan and Christian and one brother, Charles Overmiller of Dover, DL.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Laura will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the funeral home.
