Laura Marie Studebaker, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born September 24, 1930 in Lawrence, the daughter of George R. and Cecile F. Humphrey Donaldson.
Laura attended Clinton Grade School and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence in 1948. She had six months secretarial training at Lawrence Business College following her high school graduation. She was employed in the Sales Tax Division of the Kansas Department of Revenue from 1949 to 1958. Laura later worked as an engraver at Asay's Sportsman's Store from 1974 until she retired at the end of January, 1992.
She was a member of CrossRoads Wesleyan Church. Her hobbies included Bowling, Sewing, Embroidering, and playing Bridge and Pitch.
Laura married John J. Studebaker on August 26, 1950 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2010. Survivors include her son, George R. (Darra) Studebaker of Topeka, seven grandchildren, Gary, Gregory, Christopher, Ashley, Heather, Phillip and Andrea, eleven great-grandchildren and her siblings, Darlene Wulfkuhle of Overbrook and Ervin G. Donaldson of Highland, KS.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery southeast of Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to CrossRoads Wesleyan Church, 2121 SW Harrison St., Topeka, KS 66611. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
