Lawrence R. "Larry" Long, 79, of Topeka, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, from Alzheimer's.
Larry was born April 19, 1934, in Almena, KS, son of Paul and Florence (Cranmer) Long. He honorably served in the US Navy for six years. Larry retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 42 years of service as an electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Elanor "Sis" Shay Long, of Topeka; four children, Sher Foster, Kristi Gosser and her husband, Christopher, Dawn Engelken and her husband, Jeff, and Duke Long and his fiancée, Sandy, all of Topeka; sister, Doris Pence, of Huntsville, AL; nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; and many other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Bob.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, Topeka.
Private family inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 10th, at the funeral home.
