Lawrence Raymond Webster

Lawrence Raymond Webster, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021.

He was born November 10, 1941, in Hayward, Wisconsin, the son of Francis and Cecelia (Bennett) Webster. He was a member of the Ojibwe and Oneida Nations. He was a graduate of South Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and attended Washburn University, in Topeka, Kansas.

Larry retired from Burlington Northern Santa Fe in 2002, after working there for 33 years in the accounting department. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1966. He was a devout Catholic and a former member of the Christ the King Parish Council and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Ward-Meade Garden Club in Topeka.

Larry married Vera Ann Massoth on June 3, 1967 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka. His survivors include two children, Greg Webster of Craig, Colorado and Christina Webster of Kansas City, Missouri. He was the beloved brother of the late Francis (and the late Mary) Webster; the late James (and the late Katherine "Dodo") Webster; the late Marie Estelle (and the late William) Gilane; Joseph Webster; the late Clementine (and the late Lyle) Wing; the late Cynthia (and the late Thomas) Schultz; the late Julius (and Maureen) Webster; Richard (Victoria) Webster; Dean (the late Betty) Webster; and Gene (Marjorie) Webster. He is further survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Larry enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. He was also fond of watching movies, attending sporting events – especially football and basketball – and barbecuing for family and friends. When he was younger he took part in bowling leagues. He was very loved by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 8th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th Street in Topeka. Interment will follow at 4:00 PM at St. Martin's Cemetery in Piqua, Kansas. A Rosary service will be recited at 8:00 PM on Friday, January 7th at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.
