Lawrence Arthur Wonnell

Lawrence "Larry" Wonnell, 83, of Topeka passed away on August 24, 2017, at Midland Hospice Care. Born August 19, 1934, in Silver Lake, Kansas, he was the son of Arthur and Mildred (Martin) Wonnell.
He was a graduate from Frankfort High School, Frankfort, Kansas in 1952.
Larry married Lenora Scott on May 17, 1956. They were married for 61 years.
He worked for the Topeka Police Department for 30 years as a Patrolman, K-9 officer and he retired as a Patrol Captain.
He enjoyed playing golf, throwing darts, watching football, fishing, boating and camping with his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Lee.
He is survived by his wife, two children; Douglas (Jane) Wonnell and Laurie Render, two grandsons; David and Chase Render, one sister, Margaret (Bob)Wullschleger, one brother Craig (Cheryl) Conaway and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Dove Cremation and Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Topeka. There will be a light reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS, Crestview United Methodist Church, 2245 SW Eveningside Dr. Topeka, KS 66614 or the Topeka Police Department K9 Unit c/o Topeka Police Credit Union, 320 S Kansas Ave Ste 100, Topeka, KS 66603.
