Ledeff White, 84, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home in Topeka, Kansas after a long illness under hospice care. Ledeff was born August 16, 1925 in Highland, Arkansas to the union of Ollie White and Annie Mae Conway.
He served in the Navy on the USS Cascade as a First Steward on "The Bunker Hill First Class". Following that service he spent the next five years on the Pacific during World War II. Ledeff was employed for 35 years as a truck driver for Champney Wrecking Company.
He leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Gertrude; his daughter, Almeda White and son, Allen White of Topeka, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ollie Mae Tudda White. Surviving children of this union are Rosie M. Nix, Detroit, MI; Masie L. Holmes, Richmond, VA; Barbara A. White, Hot Springs, AR; Vernon J. Jackson, Richmond, VA; Ledell White, Topeka, KS; Ollie J. Holmes, Leavenworth, KS; David L. Holmes, Cache, OK; Jeffrey C. A. White, Topeka, KS; Rickey D. White, Parsons, KS; Quinton L. White, Wichita, KS; Tonya M. White, Topeka, KS.
Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 30 great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Apostolic Church, 2313 SE 29th Street, Topeka, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will precede the service for one hour. Interment will be at Topeka Cemetery. The repass will be at the Apostolic Church.
