Leo Miller, 89, Topeka, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Midland Hospice House.
Leo was born May 7, 1923 in Vassar, the son of Otto J. and Anna B. Miller.
He worked at John Morrell Packing Company from 1940 to 1951, except for a 3 year period that he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II. He also worked at Forbes Supply Depot from 1952 to 1960 and retired in 1984 after 24 years with the State Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services as Manager of the SRS Supplies Warehouse.
Leo married Ester "Blanche" Currey on September 2, 1942. They were married for 65 years before her passing in June 2007.
Survivors include son, Wayne Miller; granddaughters, Sharon Morris, Valerie Johnson, all of Topeka; 7 great-grandchildren; Miranda (Ryan) Kirwan, Topeka, Wesley Boaz, USAF New Mexico, Dusty Morris, US Army, Afghanistan, Sara (Josh) Earl, Osborne, Dylan Johnson, Topeka, Cheyenne Johnson, Topeka, Jacob Johnson, Topeka; and 5 great-great grandchildren; Avery Kirwan, Declan Kirwan, Koti Earl, Kaylinn Earl and Jaycie Earl. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Betty Miller; great-grandson, Koti Johnson; brothers, Robert, Johnny, Hank, Alvin, and Francis Miller; and a sister, Anna Hackel.
A private inurnment at Rochester Cemetery will take place at a later date.
