Leo M. Rothberger, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Sweet Country Homes in Carbondale. He was born on February 16, 1924 in Eudora, KS to Max and Katherine Rothberger.
Leo graduated from Eudora High School in 1941. Leo married Arlene Kraybill on May 13, 1944 at Miami, FL. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Clearwater, FL. Leo was a 4th Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus in Clearwater, FL and a member of Santa Fe Old Timers Club.
Leo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Arlene of Topeka; his daughters, Jamie (Ed) Gfeller of Edmond, OK and Melinda Rothberger of Topeka; two grandchildren, Erick (Brawna) Gfeller and Christian (Heather) Gfeller both of Edmond, OK; four great grandchildren Tristan Gfeller, Kaleb Gfeller, Kaden Gfeller, and Zoe Gfeller all of Edmond, OK; and one sister Marie Putnam of Carbondale. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter Ashley Rothberger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
He will in state after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 23 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
