Leon Stegman

Leon Stegman, 58, rural Overbrook, KS, passed away April 28, 2010 at home. He was born to Philip and Martha (Eichman) Stegman on November 4, 1951 in Ransom, Kansas. He grew up on a farm outside of Brownell, Kansas and graduated from Ransom High School in 1969. He was a passionate baseball player from an early age and found his niche as a catcher, playing through his high school years. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Kraus on August 21, 1971 in Ransom, Kansas. They have resided in the Topeka area since. She survives.

He was employed at St. Francis Medical Center as an x-ray/nuclear medicine technician from 1973 to the present.

He is also survived by his son, Marc Stegman; daughter, Jodi Stegman (Chad Mullins); and 5 granddaughters, all of Topeka; mother, Martha Stegman, Ransom, KS; brother, Rocky Stegman, Fishers, IN; sister, Jnell Dinges, Kansas City, KS; several nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his father, Philip and his brother, Kirby.

Memorial service will be held at Dove Cremation and Funeral Service Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at Terry's Billiard Club, 21st & Gage following the service.
