Leonard H. Walker, 87, Topeka, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014.
He was born May 18, 1927, in Beasley, Oklahoma, the son of Charles and Eva (Crites) Walker.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II and the Korean War.
Leonard was a carman with the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Walker was a member of the South Knollwood Baptist Church.
Leonard married Laura Smith on February 26, 1950 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include their daughters, Janet (Randy)Watts, Scranton and Barbara Vargas, Topeka; three grandchildren, Todd (Jessica) Watts, Matthew (Katlin) Watts and Maura Vargas and one great-granddaughter, Malea Watts.
He was preceded in death by his son, Leonard, great-grandson, Wyatt Vargas-Dehner and five siblings.
Leonard loved restoring tractors and his music. He also enjoyed anything with mechanics, woodworking and welding.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19 at South Knollwood Baptist Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
