Leonard O. Rucker, Sr., 83, of Burlingame, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014.
He was born January 27, 1931 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Ormal Randolph and Clara Suzanne (Koeppen) Rucker. He was a graduate of Wichita High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force until retiring in May 31, 1975.
Mr. Rucker was also employed and later retired from the Veteran's Hospital in Topeka.
Leonard married Dorothy M. Sims on March 25, 1949 in Wichita, KS. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2000. He married Mary A. Meek on December 23, 2001in Burlingame, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Leonard O. Rucker, Jr., Longmont, CO, Stephen Rucker, Wichita, KS and Kevin Rucker, residence unknown; three daughters, Linda Franzen, Longmont, CO, Carolynn Seals, Syracuse, NY and Stephanie Harrell, Wichita, KS; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn M. Asbell, San Antonio, TX, Alma C. Allmond and Patricia Ann Lee, both of Augusta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Judith Johnson, Margaret Hillwick and Geraldine Rabel, and a brother, Richard Rucker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka. Burial with military honors will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Monday.
