Leroy E. Dachenhausen, 77, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at his home.
He was born June 19, 1934 in Topeka, the son of Bruce and Lena Schifflet Dachenhausen. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1952. Leroy was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by USD 501 for many years. He was a member of Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion and the Moose Club. Leroy married Carol J. Eichem on September 28, 1967 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2003 and his sister, Marjorie Martin in 2011.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Dachenhausen, two daughters, Diane Meyer and Stacy Younger, all of Topeka, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one brother, Don Dachenhausen of Topeka.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Leroy will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Kansas Dialysis Services, 634 SW Mulvane St., Ste. 300, Topeka, KS 66606.
