Leslie A. "Les" Hood, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Midland Hospice House. He was born November 10, 1936 in Salina, the son of Arthur Leslie and Lillian (Kliem) Hood.
Les graduated from Sheridan High School and earned an Associate Degree from the University of Texas. He was employed by the State of Kansas for 40 years before retiring.
Les married Kay Beth Kenyon in 1964. She preceded him in death on February 1, 1978. He later married Mary F. Masters in 1979. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2013. He was also preceded in death by children, Patricia Blanchett, Mary Ann Thompson and John Masters.
Survivors include children, Arthur (Dixie) Hood of Scranton, Nancy (Pat) McGoyne of Topeka, Tom (Nancy) Masters of Topeka, Debbie (Larry) Canon of Fountain, Colorado, Virginia (Walter) Degan of Topeka, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and his brother, Ronald Hood of Virginia.
A Celebration of Les's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the KSU Cancer Center, 1 Chalmers Hall, Manhattan, Kansas 66506 or to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
