Leslie "Les" Packer, 59, of Topeka, passed away March 20, 2012. He was born April 30, 1952 in Topeka to Paul W. and JoAnn (VanDeren) Packer. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1970 and attended Highland Community College on a basketball scholarship.
He is survived by his children, Matt Packer of Kansas City, Missouri and Danielle Packer of Topeka; his parents; siblings, Christine Cobler, Dave Packer and Lisa Packer; nieces, Emily Packer and Jaimie Casto; nephews, Jason Cobler, Jared Cobler, Paul Packer and Justin Casto; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Les was an avid Jayhawk fan as well as a music enthusiast. He talked frequently about his days of playing ball with old friends. He was a locksmith and owned Treasure Island Lock and Key. Les spent over 20 years in the Treasure Island/St.Petersburg area of Florida with Denise McCorkill. Les loved the sun and the sand. It is the family's intentions to scatter his ashes in the Gulf of Mexico.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 26, 2012 from 6-8PM at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas, Topeka, KS 66608.
