Leslie Susan Smith, 45, of Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 7, 2012.
She was born October 25, 1966 to Earl Smith, Jr. and Betty Gillum Smith in Atchison, KS. Leslie attended schools in Atchison and Topeka where she graduated from Highland Park High School.
Leslie moved to Minneapolis, MN and met her husband and lifelong partner, Deano Collum in 1985. There were 5 children born to this union.
Leslie worked for KNI, Greenbush, Deb and Les's Cleaning Service and worked briefly for the Topeka Housing Authority. She took early retirement and she devoted much of her time to her children and grandchildren. She loved old western movies and reading books.
Although Leslie did not have a church home, her family knows she now resides with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in his Heavenly eternal home. She was met there by her father and mother, a sister, Kelli and a daughter, Shawnick.
Leslie leaves precious memories for her husband and lifelong partner, Deano, two daughters, Ariel and Asianna, two sons, Deshon (Tina) DeVante, two grand-daughters, Maleiyah and Camarra, one sister, Linda (Alan) and four brothers, Earl III, Mark (Cheryl), Jeffrey (Ludella), Kent (June) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place at a later date. Leslie will lie in state and the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
