Lester Junior Israel, 87, of Topeka, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022.
He was born January 31, 1935, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of James L. Israel and Mary R. (Coke) Israel. He graduated from Topeka High in 1953. He served in the Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963.
Lester was employed by American Home Insurance for 17 years, the last ten as the manager of data processing, and later owned and operated the Dutch Goose for eight years. He regarded his customers as part of his friends and family.
Survivors are his niece Donna (Lutz) Corber of Geneseo, IL and nephew Wallace H. Lutz, Jr. of Topeka; along with several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Jeanette O. Lutz and Thelma Bourell-Anshutz; and his niece Carol S. (Lutz) Faulk.
Lester enjoyed Scouting as a child. As an adult he was an avid boatman and skier. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling.
Lester was cremated. A graveside ceremony and interment will be held on Tuesday, October 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street in Topeka.
