Lester Lee Sutton, Jr., Topeka, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at his residence. He was born July 4, 1930 in Smith Center, the son of Lester and Marie Wise Sutton. He was raised by his mother and step father, Elmer Sutton in the Wamego area. He graduated from Wamego High School in 1950. He served in the US Army from 1951-1953, and was stationed in Germany. He has lived in Topeka since 1989.
He married Alice Rhodes in 1954 in Wamego. They later divorced.
Lester was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Betty Sutton; his step father, Elmer Sutton; one brother, Henry Sutton and one brother in law, Jerry Durkes.
Survivors Include his mother, Marie Sutton of Wamego; 2 daughters, Kathy Feldhausen, Manhattan and Dawna Sutton, Wamego; son, David Sutton of Beckley, West Virginia; 4 grandchildren, Rusti & Jayme Klym, Cameo Franks, Trevor & Missy Feldhausen, and Shea Sutton; 2 great-grandchildren, Clarke Franks and Leta Feldhausen; brother, Lyle Sutton of Wamego; 3 Sisters, Helen Weller of Manhattan, Margie Durkesof Topeka and Mary Jane Mahoney of Norway, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Sutton of St. George.
Graveside services will be 2:30 pm Friday at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery with Ft. Riley Army Base providing military honors.
