Leta Travis

Leta M. Travis, 64, Topeka, passed away Sept. 15, 2011. She was born Dec. 11, 1946 to James A. and Johnnie M. (Bodenheimer) Travis at Woodward, OK. Leta moved to Winfield as a teenager and graduated from Winfield High School in 1965. After graduation from high school she worked for Winfield State Hospital for several years. She moved to Topeka in 1974 and was employed as a unit secretary at St. Francis Hospital for 17 years.

She is survived by her daughter Tracy Travis (Topeka); son Jerome Travis (Topeka); granddaughter Jailyn Lee (Topeka); two grandsons, Stiles Travis (Charlotte, NC) and Romeo Lassiter (Charlotte, NC); two brothers, Ben (Jan) Travis (Green Valley, AZ) and Roger Moore (Hunter, OK); 2 sisters Peggy (Ken) Waite (Bakersfield, CA) and Penny Moore (Winfield, KS).

She was preceded in death by her father James Travis; mother Johnnie Moore; step-father Keith Moore; and 2 sisters, Virginia Scott and Pamela Ledford.

Memorial services will be at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service 4020 SW 6th Ave, Topeka at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.
