Levata Lewis

Levata Lewis, 74, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on July 27, 1934 in Newport, Virginia, the daughter of Guster and Alice Rush Lewis. She had resided in Philadelphia for 25 years before moving to Topeka. She was employed as a Nurse's Aide Assistant. Levata then was employed at Comfort Keeper. Levata married Robert Robinson, Sr. in 1952. They were divorced. She then married Armstade Washington. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Lequita "Cookie" Robinson, Robert Robinson, Jr. and Tuteluann Riley all of Topeka, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Burial will follow. Levata will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
