Lindy Leon Harvey

March 30, 1928 — May 16, 2022

Lindy Leon Harvey, 94, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 16, 2022.

He was born March 30, 1928 on a farm near Council Grove, Kansas. He was a WW II Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He received a Certificate of Recognition from Governor Kathleen Sebelius for his part in the Atomic Test in the South Pacific.

Lindy was a member of American Legion Post No. 400 and V.F.W. Post No. 1650 in Topeka.

He is survived by his sons, Wesley (Kathleen) Harvey of Idaho Falls, ID and Russell (Joan) Harvey of Hoyt, KS; two grandchildren; and his brother, Gerald Harvey. 

Lindy is also survived by his dear friend of 14 years, HoneyBea Barkley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, George Jr., Clarence, Clifford, Robert, David, Roland and Danny Harvey and his sisters, Shirley and Ellenor.

Lindy enjoyed music and dancing.  He had a love of nature and would spend long walks in the Kansas woods.  He was always curious about the world and nature.  He was an avid runner for many years and enjoyed tennis and golf.  He enjoyed playing with his children and instilled in them a sense of joy and enthusiasm.  He also enjoyed watching movies and restaurants.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS. Interment with military honors will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
