Lloyd Gene "Butch" Harris Jr., 72, of Topeka passed away on August 1, 2017.
Born on November 21, 1944, he was the son of Lloyd Sr. and Priscilla Harris.
Butch was a graduate of Seaman High School, class of 1962. He went to Topeka Trade School and became a journeyman machinist. He worked at Bracket Inc. and Seymour for 33 years. After a work injury he went to work for Kansas Gas Service as a mapper.
He married Iris "Neva" Galster on July 24, 1964. They were married for 53 years.
He enjoyed archery and was an active Boy Scout leader. Butch was a Kansas Hunter Safety instructor for 44 years. He was a founding member and vice president of the T.H.E. Archery club. Butch was passionate about working with the youth; teaching archery and finding funding for many youth archery programs.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Davie and Deanna.
He is survived by his wife, a son Edward Harris, a sister, Denise and a brother, Wally.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Wanamaker Woods Nazarene Church, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. A private graveside service will take place at Holton Cemetery at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks and Tourism for the purpose of Hunter Education, 512 SE 25th Ave., Pratt, KS 67124.
