Lloyd Raymond Hysten, 92, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
He was born November 2, 1928, in Ozawkie, Kansas, the son of Fred and Zepher (Archer) Hysten.
Lloyd attended Ozawkie High School and later served in the United States Army. He worked for the VA Hospital in Topeka and also worked as a building manager for Dillard's department store.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Indiana Avenue Church of Christ of Topeka.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Hysten; his children, David Hysten, Denise Scott and Daniel Hysten; two step-children; a sister, MaryLou (John) Shepherd; grandchildren, Maurice Ratliff, Allen (Dallas) Ratliff, William Scott III, Terence (Holly) Scott, DeMarcus (Tiffany) Hysten, Daniel Hysten, Jr., Izariah Hysten, Jamon (Labreta) Garner, Dominique Hysten, David (Mary) Hysten, Jr. and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Rosie Hysten; his son, Darvin Hysten; his siblings, Evelyn Fisher, Leonard Hysten, Frances Harold, William Hysten, Victoria Horne, Warren Hysten, Clem Hysten, Edith Newman, Geneva Harris, Alonzo Hysten, Richard Hysten and John Hysten.
Lloyd enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors and farming but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In honor of Mr. Hysten's love of Royals baseball the family is encouraging those who attend to wear blue and white to the funeral.
A visitation will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dove Cremations & Funerals – Southeast Chapel.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 5, 2021 at Quivira Heights Church of Christ, 1718 SW Crest Drive, Topeka, KS 66604.
Private interment services will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
