Loine M. Snook, 82, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at a Topeka hospital. She was born January 27, 1934 in Dover, the daughter of Jess and Letha (Kemble) Butner.
Loine graduated from Dover High School in 1952.
Loine was employed by Butner's IGA where she met her future husband, Doran. She was later employed by the State of Kansas Insurance Department, Volume Shoe Corporation and the Don Silkey Shelter Insurance Agency before retiring.
She was a member of Westside Christian Church, Dover Rebekah Lodge No. 733 and the Nina Chapter O.E.S. at Dover where she served as Worthy Matron.
Loine married Doran L. Snook on June 28, 1953. They were married 62 years. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard Butner and two sisters, Ruth Nystrom and Helen Long.
Survivors include son, Michael (Marcia Jones) Snook; daughter, Lauri (Larry) Selby, all of Topeka; 5 granddaughters and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Loine will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the funeral home.
