Lois Eileen Brehm, 96, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012. She was born in Topeka to Perry and Stella Tice on April 9, 1915, and grew up on a farm west of what is now Westridge Mall.
Eileen graduated from Washburn High School in 1932, which was then located on the campus of Washburn University. She lived in Topeka all her life except for 9 years in the 1930's and early 40's, when she lived in California. Returning to Topeka in 1944, she started work at the new Goodyear plant and continued working in the payroll department for Goodyear until she retired in 1981. Eileen was a lifelong member of the Foursquare Church, where she served for many years as their organist and pianist. Besides her dedication to Goodyear, she loved to garden, play the piano, crochet, knit and sew. Additionally, she spent many years researching and compiling a detailed family history of the Brehm and Tice families. She lived on Fairlawn Road from 1951 until 2004 when she moved to the Atria Retirement Center. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Brewster Place. Eileen married Francis L. Brehm in November 1937 and they celebrated their 64th anniversary before his death in May 2002.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Day, Topeka; a son, Philip and wife Royanna, Harrisburg, PA.; two grandsons, two granddaughters, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Dana and Don Tice; four sisters, Marie Whitegon, Marjorie Hylton, Alice Hayson, Isabell Christenberry; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 18th at the Dove Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel, 4020 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka. The family will greet guests 30 minutes before the service. Entombment will be in the Mount Hope Mausoleum.
