Lois L. Jones, 88, of Topeka, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, May 23, 2015.
Lois was born on February 20, 1927, in Belvue, KS, the daughter of Floyd C. and Sara A. (Sullivan) Weeks. Her family moved to Topeka when Lois was a young child and she attended school in Topeka, graduating from Topeka High in 1944. Lois also attended Washburn University.
Lois married Wilson H. Jones on December 6, 1946; he preceded her in death on June 21, 2007. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John E. and Donald C. Weeks She is survived by a son, Jeffrey Jones, and two grandchildren, Kyle and Stephanie, all of Topeka, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was an avid and accomplished bridge player. She was the Director at the Bridge Center of Topeka for many years and attained the prestigious designation of Silver Life Master from the American Contract Bridge League. She was also a talented seamstress who sewed many of her own clothes.
Lois' wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 30, at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service.
Lois will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Private burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date.
